How It Works
Because your family's illnesses and medical emergencies
don't always occur between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm,
the hotline is staffed by registered nurses ready to answer
your calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The nurse hotline provides information on a wide range of
concerns, including suggestions for using area support groups
and appropriate treatment for minor emergencies and illnesses.
When you call the nurse hotline, the staff will assess your
situation and provide information to help you decide how
to solve or treat your problem.
Very Important: In life-threatening emergencies,
call 911 or go directly to the nearest hospital emergency
room for treatment. If 911 is not available in your area,
call the local police / fire department or go directly to
the nearest hospital or emergency room.

Health Information Library
The Health Information Library consists of over 1,100 recorded
topics that can be accessed 24-hours a day. More than 550 topics
are available in Spanish. The Library is
a fully automated system in which callers are given a menu
of choices divided into categories that they can access over
the phone. By using this system, members are empowered to
make more informed healthcare decisions and to take better
care of themselves and their families. The Health Information Library
contains the most comprehensive, up-to-date information about
every basic health concern.
